Is the story of my life in January. It is the story of most women's lives in January, is it not? Why is it that such a fresh and new time of year is parallel to feeling like shit, looking like utter shit and feeling waves of pressure that comes more than it goes? Let's forget this prerequisite and shape our January into something new.

It triggers off an urgent need for a haircut (just book it), new skin care products (just buy it)  and a gym membership (Please think clearly, looks like Lauren Goodger's workout DVD does the trick). These aren't bad things but when you're already broke from Christmas it isn't the wisest thing to go out and drop our entire bank balance - but we do it anyway...and it feels so good.

Of course the weather is to blame. The rain, dark mornings and afternoons, the cold and the blizzards - the transport delays (one's that can tip us over the edge after a long day) especially after a day of 'healthy eating' and a new mindset  that we will attend the gym that evening. I don't know what is more stressful - the gym bunny mindset or the fact we will be late getting home. I am going to go with the former. It seems January is the only month in the year where the weather can get the better of us.

BUT one most always stay positive because even in the shittest times and the shittiest weathers, there is somebody out there who is worse off than you. We all hear this all too often but it is most certainly true and a reflection we should remember more than we do.

Let's wear our thick wooly knitted jumpers with grace and our trusty leather boots with power as we trudge right on through January.

Next time I wake up puffy and my hair isn't behaving I will remember that I am lucky to have eyes (puffy or not) and hair on my head (no matter what mood it is in). I will slap on extra concealer and just tie the hair up. Problem solved
